Passengers first impression of Grandeur comes immediately upon boarding and entering the ship through its magnificent Centrum. First timers to the line, virtually without exception, stop dead and just gaze, in realization that their life long fantasies are about to be fulfilled! The space is dominated by twin glass elevators, appearing through the floor, traveling to the upper reaches and disappearing through the Centrum's glass dome. Plants and trees throughout, add atmosphere while water flows around and below bridges in the area. A white baby grand piano provides embarkation music. Centrum is the crossroads of all Royal Caribbean ships. On Grandeur, it is the locale of the pursers and tour desks and the entrance to: both levels of the dining room; the Champagne Bar; the Casino; the Singing in the Rain Lounge; the Schooner Bar; the Card Room; the Library; the Explorers Club; the Crown and Anchor Study, the Main Pool; the Solarium and the Viking Crown, all spanning from this area. On these ships, Centrum is THE center of activity and much more than the wasted space that is typical of atria on many other ships. Those of you lucky enough to have cabins located on Bridge or Commodore decks will find no better scene to greet you upon leaving your cabin in the morning than the cavernous beauty of Centrum! |
