Grand Princess was designed to provide active passengers with comfortable accommodations for 7 days in the Caribbean. For that purpose, the standard cabins are quite suitable. Individual beds go together to form a double, overhead berths providing space for third and fourth passengers. There is no couch or sitting chair. Living and storage space is suitable for up to three passengers, without too much discomfort. This cabin accommodates four, but, for sanity's sake, they had better be small or on very good terms! All cabins have a TV, and a refrigerator (installed for the sake of passenger convenience, not to generate additional revenue by serving as a pay bar, occasionally the case on lower level lines). The closet is spacious and the bathroom, while not large, looks to be a bit more comfortable than those on Royal Caribbean. Hair Dryers are suitably located on the vanity, where most ladies seem to prefer them, not in the bathroom! Of course, this being Princess, bathrobes are provided for ALL passengers! Additional berths fold along the cabin walls, not into the ceiling. While this design makes them accessible for afternoon use, it also robs the cabin of valuable shoulder room! Since Princess has pressed Grand Princess into service on longer, European routes, passengers would be well advised to reconsider the practicality of accommodating more then two passengers in one of these cabins. There is just not enough space here to handle the additional clothes for more than two people on cruises that exceed 7 days, or that require preparing for two or more seasonal climates. One hint to make getting around easier...the hallway carpeting on the right side of the ship is blue, on the left...red. Remember that, and you won't make a wrong turn when returning to your cabin. |
